Department for Business and Trade (DBT)
DBT is a ministerial department for economic growth whose services support businesses to invest, grow and export, creating jobs and opportunities across the country and overseas. We are actively involved with the DBT on a wide range of issues including;
- Exporting
- Customs processes, licensing and tariffs
- Net zero and the environment
Office for Product Safety & Standards (OPSS)
Product safety laws help prevent consumers from being harmed by what they place in their homes. Product regulations are constantly changing and we take part in both Office for Product Safety Standards (OPSS) and British Standards (BSI) committees. By being a member you can contribute to these standards meetings and be the first to find out about changes and updates. We are actively involved with OPSS on a wide range of issues and furniture standards including;
- PPE, Safe Working, Local Authority Enforcement and Test and Trace
- Timber Regulations including the key requirements and operation of the respective UK and EU timber regulations following the end of the UK ‘transition’ period
Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA)
DEFRA is the UK government department responsible for safeguarding our natural environment, supporting our industry, and sustaining a thriving rural economy. Their broad remit plays a major role in people’s day-to-day life, from the food we eat, and the air we breathe, to the water we drink. DEFRA is a ministerial department, supported by 33 agencies and public bodies. We are actively involved with DEFRA on a wide range of issues and furniture standards including;
- Safe disposal of end-of-life furniture
- Soft Furnishings Waste Working Group including the agency’s study of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POP’s) in Domestic Waste Seating
