Since 1972, Carpenter has been manufacturing polyether polyols, one of the key components in flexible urethane foam. Our Roger W. Powell plant, located in Bayport, Texas, is one of the world’s leading polyol production facilities. Carpenter Co. has two technical centres employing 80 staff. Our Reinhart Technical Centre based in Richmond, USA and Wetteren in Belgium, both are tasked with developing new foams, looking for new ideas and reviewing future trends. These centres have the most sophisticated testing facilities which can provide information on durability, thermal conductivity, permeability and pressure mapping for our customers products. We are not only providing the innovations, but the science behind our customers comfort environment.

Carpenter Ltd has a state-of-the-art foam pouring facility based in Glossop, Derbyshire complimented by our RICHBOND™ block production, CARPENTER UNDERLAY® division, conversion & bedding divisions. 

We have three further conversion sites, located in Alfreton, Hengoed South Wales and Corby servicing the upholstery, caravan, packaging, bedding and mobility sectors with comfort solutions. Our branches in Alfreton and Wales work with our customers to provide seat & back cushions and furniture kits in foam, RICHBOND™ and carded or blown polyester fibre components. Our factories have foams available in a range of physical characteristics to offer different levels of performance feel employing the latest in automated cutting machinery. Our dedicated sales team works with customers’ R&D departments to develop innovative and bespoke solutions, whether it be designing a new seat cushion or unique pillows and mattresses. The combination of being able to supply both foam & fibre parts from one factory means the customer has just one point of contact.

Our bedding division supplies slit block and profiled sheets to the bed & packaging manufacturers in a variety of different grades of foam. Carpenter can deliver foam profiling which allows zoning to be incorporated into sheets for a single, 3, 5, 6 & 7 zone designs. These offer support and an alternative feel in target areas with the additional benefit of increased airflow through the finished product. We have the latest in contour cutting and punching machinery which allows us to produce creative patterns. This division produces mattresses, in all foam, micro-coil & foam and pocket-sprung to our customers designs either boxed or flat-packed.
